NCC Screening - When The River Runs Dry
Event Information
About this Event
Please join us for an exclusive screening of the documentary When the River Runs Dry, a film about one of the greatest environmental crimes in Australia. The plight of the Darling-Baaka River.
This will be followed by a Q&A panel with Uncle Badger Bates, our Water Organiser Jane MacAllister and others who feature in the film.
People in river communities in far western NSW have a story that is not being heard by people and decision makers in Sydney.
So we’ve asked some passionate community members — farmers, First Nations leaders and conservationists to join us in Sydney this month to speak directly to politicians, bureaucrats and the media about the slow strangulation of the Darling-Baaka River, the very life force of the region.
Join us for an exclusive viewing of a unique cinema event — When the River Runs Dry – a powerful story of corruption, environmental devastation, community resistance and revival.
The documentary lays bare the plight of the Darling-Baaka and the people who depend on it for their very survival: the Barkindji people whose ancestors have lived on the river for millennia; the farmers whose livelihoods depends on healthy flows; the river scientists who are sounding the alarm; and the lawyers who are fighting for water justice.
