Navigating aged care can be tricky. People are often unaware of how to begin their aged care journey, and finding information on how to access, change and update services is not always easy.

The Navigating the Aged Care System Webinar Series provides practical information about Australian Government subsidised aged care services, including how to access these services and where to find the information you need make informed decisions. The webinars are intended to be conversational and interactive with panellists taking questions throughout.

Webinar 4, Parts 5 & 6 will both be held on 25th September 2019, with a half hour break in between. Joining OPAN Educator Maree Montgomery on the panel for both webinars will be Jonelle Hill-Uebergang, Coordinator of Community Services at Gateway Health Wangarrata, and Maria Berry, Consumer Representative and Managing Director of Communities of Respect.

Part 5 (11:00am-11:30am AEST) Overview of other support & service options: Respite Care, private providers, support for veterans and war widows/widowers

Part 6 (12:00pm-12:30pm AEST) Short term help options: Short Term Restorative Care and Transition Care

During both parts, you will learn:

  • Types of services and supports available
  • Who provides the services and supports
  • Estimating your fees

Who is OPAN?

OPAN is a national network of services funded by the Australian Government’s National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) to deliver independent information, education and advocacy in support of older people and their representatives to address issues related to Commonwealth funded aged care services. In addition, OPAN Members deliver elder abuse prevention and advocacy support under an agreed national framework. OPAN consists of nine Members who provide frontline advocacy services, one from each state and territory and two in the Northern Territory.
