Event description
On Thursday 28 November call for a step up in protection for Victoria's nature!

About this Event

Join Victorian environment and community groups to call for a step up in protection for nature across Victoria - our National Parks, forests, grasslands, rivers, beaches, oceans, native plants and animals.

As our biodiversity continues to decline, habitats become more stressed, species become more threatened and the climate crisis escalates, we can’t waste any more time, bold action is needed.

It is more important than ever that we show we care about the protection of nature.

The recent announcement by the Andrews Government to immediately protect some threatened species habitat and cease logging of old growth native forest in Victoria’s east, and end native forest logging by 2030, is a breakthrough. Now, we need to ensure these commitments are actually delivered, as well as make sure that native forests and habitats are protected right across the state, not just in some areas.

So let’s get together to show that Victorians are watching to see the new forest commitments come to reality – and urge for a step up in action for all our other special natural places and wildlife.

On Thursday 28 November, five years after of the election of the Andrews Government, environment and community groups from across Victoria will rally together to protect Nature for Life. Will you join us?

Nature for Life Rally

Date: Thursday 28 November

Time: 12pm to 2pm

Place: Parliament steps, Spring St, Melbourne

Followed by: BYO picnic in Treasury Gardens

We need active leadership for the protection of nature and will be delivering a positive message of what can and should be done in this term of government. We will be urging for:

• Better funded National Parks.

• New parks in central west Victoria.

• Delivery of the Andrews Government’s recent forest announcement to end native forest logging, including immediately protecting some threatened species habitat and ceasing logging in old growth forests in the east.

• Better protection for our rivers, beaches, oceans and wildlife – before it’s too late

• Stronger laws to protect threatened species and habitats that address the size of the crisis we are facing.

• And more!

To make this happen, we need everyone to bring a banner, sign, puppet or other craft work to represent the special place you think deserves better from the government.

Together we will demonstrate the breadth of action required and the passion we have to make it happen.

We need to make sure as many of us as possible demonstrate that Victorians do want new parks and better protection for nature.

To make this rally have the biggest impact possible. We need your help! Can you spread the word by:

• Sharing the Facebook event:
