Event description
Join our NaturallyGC team for a morning at the Botanic Gardens learning all about pollinators.

About this Event

Come along to the Botanic Gardens and learn about some of the important pollinators of the gardens that keep our blooms fruiting and reproducing every year while also helping ecologist learn more about these insects, what flowers they pollinate and where they are found.

The Wild Pollinator Count gives you an opportunity to contribute to wild pollinator insect conservation in Australia. We invite you to help count the pollinators of the Botanic Gardens and help to build a database on pollinator activity.

There will be a butterfly display from Gold Coast Butterflies, bug and insect display from Bug Kidz and native bees. Plus t he opportunity to grab a free native plant or a native bee hotel (one per family/group until stocks last).

How to get involved

  1. Come along to the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens
  2. Visit one of our butterfly or insect pollinator displays within the gardens near the Friends Centre.
  3. Pick up a Wild Pollinator Count sheet from us at the Friends Centre
  4. Choose a spot in the gardens and watch any of the flowering plants for just 10 minutes
  5. Record what you see on your sheet
  6. Submit your sheet back to us at the end of your ten minutes to receive either a free native bee hotel or pollinator attracting native tubestock plant. We will submit your sightings into the Wild Pollinator Count website. (only 1 bee hotel or 2 x native plants per group)

You can also download the free iNaturalist app and join our NaturallyGC project where you can upload images of your sightings and share them with other contributors!
