About this event

iNaturalist Great Southern Bioblitz Frog Surveys

Join the City of Gold Coast on a guided walk through Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area helping to identify local frog species and upload them using the iNaturalist app. In the event that the frogs are hiding too well, there will be other fauna and flora we can record.

The walk will form part of the Great Southern Bioblitz (GSB), an annual opportunity to participate in a large, global biodiversity survey. Each time an observation is made, it will be identified and used as a data point for that species, existing in that place, at that time. A valuable piece of scientific data which can be accessed for all sorts of important biological research.

This night time frog identification walk and talk will give you a new appreciation for the amazing frogs of the Gold Coast. The walk will be led by Dr Jean-Marc Hero is a vertebrate ecologist with over 30 years experience as a research scientist and an educator at universities around the world. He studied frogs in the Amazon for his PhD and has been learning about frogs ever since.

Suitable for ages 10 and above.  Not suitable for small children.

No large group bookings. Maximum 5 per group.

Presented by Jean Marc-Hero, City of Gold Coast

Supported by Division 4 Councillor Cameron Caldwell
