About this event

Biomimicry utilises knowledge from the natural world to solve problems in the human world.

In this module, students will discover ways in which nature helps us to solve human problems. They will use this knowledge to then design and test whirlybirds in a series of experiments.

Mode: Online

Schedule: 1 x 90 minute session

Suitable for: a whole class enrichment lesson in Years 3-6.

Required Equipment

Students will need:

  • A device with access to the internet and Zoom. Where there are multiple students from one school/class students can all join zoom via one device. Students do not need their own device to complete activities.
  • A printed copy of the worksheet,( in A3 size per student) available upon registration. 1 set of paper whirlybirds per student, included as part of the workbook.
  • Paper
  • Pencil & ruler
  • Scissors
  • Colouring pencils and markers

Registrations

Group Registrations: For groups of more than 10 students from one school. When booking as a group students must join the zoom session on one device, and students will be in one classroom and supported by a teacher from your school

Single Student Registrations: Where there are less than 10 students from one school, students can join via their own devices.

Monash Tech School is one of 10 Tech Schools funded by the Victorian Government. It runs educational programs for students aged 13-18 years old, with a focus on materials science, new energy, biotechnology, and medical technologies.

Hosted by Monash University at its Clayton campus, the Monash Tech School is located in its purpose build facility at Level 1, 29 Ancora Imparo Way, Clayton 3800.

Working with it's 12 partner Secondary Schools in the City of Monash, the Monash Tech School provides valuable and unique experiences for attending students.
