Description

Theme: From micro to macro - scaling natural systems for the textile industry

A two day event on the creation and use of Australian botanical colour in textiles. The natural dye conference brings the textile ecosystem together to connect with natural dye services and expertise. Connect with professionals in farming, processing, manufacturing or researching natural dyes.

Friday 31 August (8:30am - 5:00pm):

- Microeconomics of bush dyes

- Eucalyptus dye database exhibition and presentation

Saturday 1 September (9:00am- 4:30pm):

- The research spot

- Indigo the organic way

- Indigofera australis - Australia's native indigo

- Collaborations from farm to garment

Catering will be provided on Friday and Saturday by Kinfolk. Delicious and ethical morning, lunch and afternoon tea are included in your ticket price.

SOLD OUT - Organic Indigo Vat Masterclass -Thursday 30 August (10:00am - 2:00pm)

Learn how to make a natural indigo organic vat with Heather Thomas. We will be setting up a few vats for the Natural Dye Conference so will be working in a team to bring each one to life. The class is focused on vat set up, and you will be able to test the vats with small samples to keep. Limited places available and you can buy tickets to this day as a stand alone or as part of a 3-day package. Thursday is a BYO food day.

Festival of Natural Dyes

The Natural dye conference is part of the Festival of Natural Dyes. The festival will showcase botanical colour with a program of classes, exhibitions and workshops offered by experts in and around Melbourne. The Festival is a Craft Cubed event.
