Do you want to learn how to successfully sow native grasses to reduce grass fuel loads to mitigate bushfire risk, increase biodiversity on your property, increase beneficial insects in your vineyard or orchard, rely less on grazing and livestock to manage grass fuel loads or grow feed for your horses that has lower sugar.
At the Lobethal native grass trial site we will learn about the following:.
- What are the do's and don't's for effective seeding
- How effective have the pre-sowing weed control treatments been
- Watch mechanical seeding in action
- Review hand seeding vs mechanical seeding
- Discuss the Native Meadow Workshop Grant
The field day will be presented by Andrew Fairney from the non-for-profit Seeding Natives, the specialists in native grass restoration.
A free morning tea will be provided at 11am.
This project is being delivered by the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board in partnership with the Department of Primary Industries and Regions. This Local Economic Recovery project is jointly funded by the South Australian and Australian Governments under the National Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
