Do you want to learn how to successfully sow native grasses to:
- reduce grass fuel loads to mitigate bushfire risk
- increase biodiversity on your property
- increase beneficial insects in your vineyard or orchard
- rely less on grazing and livestock to manage grass fuel loads
- grow feed for your horses that has lower sugar
This field day will be presented by Andrew Fairney from Seeding Natives, the specialists in native grass restoration .
You will learn:
- How to convert a weedy paddock into thriving native grass pasture
- How to choose an appropriate site
- Why native grass is tricky to grow
- How to control weeds prior to and after sowing
- Where to source seed
- How to give native grass the best start
- Discuss the equipment necessary to give you the best start
This project is part of the Local Economic Recovery Program, and is being delivered in a partnership between the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board and the Department of Primary Industries and Regions. It is co-funded by the Commonwealth and South Australian governments under the National Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
A free light meal will be provided between 6 - 6.30pm when you can talk to the presenter and other attendees.
