Venue:  88 Richards Road, Postmans Ridge

Are you interested in keeping native stingless bees for fun, honey production, conservation or pollination? In this 3-hour practical workshop, entomologist Dr Tim Heard will teach the basics of how to become a native bee keeper.

Following a stunning slide presentation, we’ll move outside for a practical session where Tim will open a hive to reveal the amazing structures within, and then divide the hive into two halves showing the process of colony propagation.

This engaging workshop will quickly build a strong foundation of knowledge and experience of native bees and you’ll leave feeling inspired and ready to keep your own hive of Australian Native Stingless Bees.

Dr Tim Heard is an entomologist and long term stingless bee keeper and promoter of native bees.  He has developed new hive designs and is the author of the award-winning The Australian Native Bee Book.

Don’t miss this very special opportunity.

$30 per person

including light Afternoon Tea.

Places are limited and bookings are essential.

The Australian Native Bee Book: Keeping stingless bee hives for pets, pollination and sugarbag honey is a 256 page, full colour book that’s a highly-informative, extended version of the workshop.

The RRP is $35, but if you purchase the special Workshop + Book package it’s available for only $25 ($55 total).  If you select this option, your book will be given to you at the Workshop.

Free, off-street parking is available on site.

The practical session of this Workshop will be held outside so please wear suitable shoes and protective clothing.  Be prepared for sun, wind, insects and other wildlife.

This workshop is smoke-free and smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property.
