Event description
Would you like to learn more about bees, especially stingless bees and beekeeping? Come along to our bee workshops held at Millen Farm.

About this event

Australian native bees are vital pollinators --- they help our wildflowers to survive and increase the yield of many of our agricultural crops.

These workshops are a mix of photographic slideshows and practical sessions. In this workshop you will learn how to divide hives and extract honey, and use the bees for pollinating your garden.

Sugarbag Bees is an innovative company based in Brisbane Australia which provides stingless bee hives, products, services, advice, information and education resources.

These workshops will be delivered by Dr. Tim Heard, or team member, who is a Native Bee expert. Tim is an entomologist and ex-CSIRO research scientist and has been keeping Australian native stingless bees since 1985. Tim now keeps over 500 hives, obtained through rescuing threatened wild hives and splitting existing hives. Tim has been giving seminars and workshops on native bees since 1995.

Tim has also written a book on Australian Native bees, which you will be gifted a free copy when you attend our full day workshops
