Event description

Description

Planet Ark is inviting Australians to join the country's biggest nature care initiative and community tree planting event by participating in National Tree Day on Sunday 29th July.

National Tree Day inspires the hearts and minds of ordinary people wanting to do extraordinary things. Tree Day engages the community in hands-on, fun, positive environmental action, in places where they live, work and play.

Whitehorse City Council has actively participated in National Tree Day events since 2003, planting 27, 725 native plants and shrubs in public land, parks, gardens and reserves throughout the municipality. In 2018 Whitehorse City Council is again supporting a National Tree Day event.

Volunteer an hour or two of your time and get the chance to make a positive impact on your community’s environment, now and into the future.

The details for this year’s National Tree Day event are:

Sunday 29 July

Tassells Park, 123 Woodhouse Grove, Box Hill North

10am to 12noon

The event will finish with a well-deserved barbeque.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear sunscreen, a hat, long-sleeved shirt, sensible shoes, gardening gloves and to bring water to drink. Also, please bring along a shovel or mattock if you have one.

Should the day begin with wet or poor weather conditions, residents should contact 0419 505 844 for cancellations or alternative arrangements.

Bookings are essential
