Event description
Join 1 million kids all reading simultaneously as Give Me Some Space! is read from space. Themed activities will take place afterwards.

About this event

"Una dreams of a life in Space. Life on Earth is just so so-so. But how will she get there? And will she complete her mission to discover life in Space? And did she remember to feed Neil the goldfish?"

On May 19th 2021 (11am AEST), this book will be read simultaneously to over 1 million children across Australia and New Zealand. Better still, Give Me Some Space! will be read live – by NASA astronaut Shannon Walker – from the International Space Station!

The library will be taking a limited number (due to COVID capacity restrictions) of class bookings from local schools and will also have tickets available for individual families.

Bookings through Eventbrite are for individual families wishing to take part in this exciting event.

If you are a teacher please call Melina at the library on 8522 9213 Or email librarymarketing@gawler.sa.gov.au early in Term 2 to make enquiries about class bookings.

Please note this book and the extension activities are aimed at children aged 4 - 8 years.

National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually, thanks to the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Each year, one book is selected to be read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around Australia and New Zealand. Read more about National Simultaneous Storytime at alia.org.au/nss.
