Event description

Description

Can’t make it to Canberra? Let the National Portrait Gallery come to you!

Our virtual excursion will connect the Gallery to your home classroom. Wherever you are, you can participate in this live, fully interactive learning program aligned with the Australian Curriculum. Students will be encouraged to explore new ideas, see different ways of thinking and respond creatively, in order to understand and appreciate Australian history, people and art.

History in the frame

Students will examine individuals, events and ideas that have contributed to Australia’s development as a nation. Through individuals portraits we’ll ask questions of their time and place, and compare the different perspectives conveyed by the artists. Students will explore portraits as historical documents through visual analysis, discussion, activity and drawing.

The Virtual Excursions project is made possible with funds donated by Tim Fairfax AC.
