THE TOPIC
Join stomal therapist and Clinical Nurse Consultant Natalie Gentile (Children’s Nursing Queensland and Australian Specialist Nurses) for an informative and practical discussion on the unique toileting and continence needs of children with disability. This session will explore continence and toilet training, constipation, and practical strategies to support children and families in everyday settings. Natalie will also discuss how to effectively include continence-related supports and items within an NDIS plan. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and gain practical insights to support continence care with confidence.
PRESENTER INFORMATION
Natalie Gentile
After completing a Bachelor of Social Science with a major in Sociology, Natalie transitioned into nursing and commenced her nursing career in 2015. She is now a Registered Stomal Therapist with extensive experience across paediatrics, surgical nursing, stomal therapy, urological care, and complex wound management.
Natalie has been a keynote speaker for the Professional Association of Nurses in Developmental Disability Australia and has presented at numerous conferences, including the Australian Association of Stomal Therapy Nurses, Continence Health Australia, and Taking Paediatrics Abroad. In 2025, she served as Secretary of Wounds Australia (Queensland Committee) and was recognised as a recipient of both the Lord Mayor’s Women in Business Award and the Continence Health Australia STAC Scholarship.
Natalie’s strong commitment to social justice underpins her clinical practice and leadership, reflecting her passion for ensuring that all patients and families receive equitable, appropriate, and compassionate healthcare.
The online discussion goes for 1 hour and will include opportunity to have your questions answered.
INTENDED AUDIENCE
Therapists, Parents, relatives and other unpaid carers of people with disability, who may be seeking more information or advice about their child in regards to continence and toileting. It is not intended that your children attend this workshop. The content presented will be relevant for any carers or parents of children.
THE WEBINAR
The session will be presented online via a Microsoft Teams session, which will require you to have access to a computer and Wifi. The session is anticipated to run for 1 hour including some time for questions (which may be submitted via the chat function). A Microsoft Teams link will be forwarded closer to the event.
The presentation is due to commence at 7.00pm AEDT. You will be able to submit any questions during the presentation via chat, but we do ask that you keep your microphones muted throughout. We will try and get to as many questions on the night, but please note that we may not have time or we may not be able to answer specific questions in the group environment.
