A 2-day nanopore sequencing workshop hosted at the Garvan Institute, in collaboration with Oxford Nanopore.

About this Event

Day 1 - Introduction Workshop

Oxford Nanopore experts will provide attendees (up to 18) with a nanopore sequencing overview and case study discussion.

A nanopore sequencing demonstration as well as a rapid sequencing control experiment will let you gain practical hands-on experience of running the MinION/GridION.

Day 2 - Data Analysis Overview

Gain practical experience with a day dedicated to data analysis using Oxford Nanopore and community developed tools. This workshop will include a comprehensive data analysis overview followed by practical hands-on experience running different analysis workflows. The practical training will cover the following:

  • In depth overview of EPI2ME for real-time end-to-end analysis
  • Command line tutorial
  • Guppy (command, parameters and folder structure)
  • Overview of fast5 file format
  • Quality and read length distribution plot and filtering
  • Mapping to a reference
  • De novo assembly and consensus correction
  • Methylation detection.
