BreastScreen Sunshine Coast warmly invites you to attend for an onsite tour and information session at the Nambour BreastScreen assessment site.

 Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the evidence base for population based breast cancer screening in Australia.
  • Review the screening protocols for breast cancers in Australia.
  • Review the protocols for communicating /reporting of clinical examination results for Breast Screen clients and for follow up of clients diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • Discuss the role of General Practice and the practice nurse in promoting national cancer screening initiatives to target age groups/ patient populations.
  • Summarise the resources available to General Practice to enable delivery of accurate information about the screening programs to patients.

Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN is a not for profit organisation which coordinates primary and preventive health care for a region of 161,000km², with a population of 823,985 people, stretching from Glasshouse to north of Yeppoon and west of Emerald. It is one of 31 Commonwealth-funded PHNs nationwide.

  • Coordinate primary health services to meet the needs of our communities, particularly those with high health needs
  • Improve the patient journey between primary and acute care
  • Support general practice
  • Improve access to health services, especially for people in remote areas
  • Ease pressure on hospitals.
