NAMA X OBP - CHINESE NEW YEAR
Event Information
About this event
Two years into a pandemic and two years into a travelling-cooking roadshow and NAMA has learnt a few things along the way..
In a stop-start city where hospitality has been repeatedly stomped on, the NAMA crew have found ways to persevere. Whether it be turning pop-ups in to take away options at local legendary spots like Freddy's pizzeria or Stan’s deli, to hitting the merchandise side with their unique hot sauce, Australian inspired shichimi or cute ‘zesty’ T-shirts and a sandwich sauce pack just in time for christmas. When restrictions eased, In-house dining was number 1 on the to do list, and to do, they did! they’re favourite part of the multi-faceted business, ‘nothing beats cooking for people in the comfort of their home’.
Their latest venture means calling Ocean Beach Pavilion home on the main drag of Sorrento for one day, (leading into) night only!
To celebrate Chinese new year, the lads plan on throwing a good old fashioned celebration to bring in the new year! Think Seafood bar on the deck including freshly shucked oysters, kingfish sashimi and the classically sumptuous Ora-king salmon tartare. Other staples that can’t be forgotten about is one of the most unique ebi toast (prawn toast) going around that is lathered with Namas take on vegemite (Namamite) and heaped with a healthy dose of Yarra Valley caviar. Magnum bottles of sake and banana leaf steamed market fish are readily available for pre-order and limited seats inside offer up a set menu that includes a rich XO sauce with cloudy bay clams laced with egg noodles , char grilled pork neck, duck pancakes and a very naughty take on the classic fish and chips but not at all how you’d expect it. Chinese new year represents prosperity, health and happiness, which seems fitting in this day and age!
Tickets on sale for the set menu now but don’t wait too long as this Chinese new year should expect to sell out quickly!
