Nailing Your First Chapter with Delilah S. Dawson
Fri. 10 November 2017, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm AEST
QWC and GenreCon present Delilah S. Dawson
About The Workshop
Let's face it: first chapters are the hardest chapters. You've got to inject worldbuilding and voice from the very beginning while making us care about a new character uniquely challenged by their world. In this three hour workshop, Delilah will discuss how to start in exactly the right place and compel a reader (or agent!) to keep reading.
About Delilah S Dawson
Delilah S. Dawson writes the Ladycastle comic series for BOOM! Studios. As a novelist, she's the author of Star Wars: The Perfect Weapon and Scorched, the dark fantasy Blud series, the YA thrillers Hit and Strike, YA horror Servants of the Storm, various short stories, and The Shadow series, a fantasy Western written as Lila Bowen and beginning with Wake of Vultures. She's won three RT Book Awards and teaches writing online at LitReactor.com. Delilah lives in the north Georgia mountains with her family and hangs out online at whimsydark.com and on Twitter, @delilahsdawson.
Delilah is in Brisbane from Nov 9-12 as a special guest of GenreCon 2017. Genrecon is a biennial Australian event that celebrates the craft of genre-fiction writing through panels, workshops and parties. It is not a fan event so much as a weekend-long socialising and networking opportunity for writers and publishing professionals united by their love of genre fiction.
