Event description

Description

NAIDOC Week 2018 will celebrate the invaluable contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made – and continue to make - to our communities, our families, our rich history and to our nation.

Under the theme - Because of her, we can! - NAIDOC Week 2018 will be held nationally from Sunday 8 July and continue through to Sunday 15 July.

As pillars of our society, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played – and continue to play - active and significant roles at the community, local, state and national levels.

Join the City on a short walk of the The Butterflies, Birds and Bridges Loop leaving from Kent Street Weir from 9am on Sunday 8 July 2018.

The loop is 3.7km return, encompassing a broad range of the Canning River Regional Park's ecosystems.

This wheelchair friendly trail is popular with cyclists, walkers and bird-watchers. The path is also dog and pram friendly. For more information on the trail click here.

Along the way learn some basic Noongar words and phrases, and enjoy an area rich with history and nature.

Following the walk a bush tucker feast will be served, think wattle seed and chocolate muffins, smoked crocodile rice paper rolls and seared kangaroo on grilled damper with onion jam!

We will keep you nice and toasty with outdoor heaters and free hot tea and coffee.

For catering purposes, please register your attendance by Monday 25 June 2018.
