Event description

Description

In celebration of NAIDOC Week, the fellas from Tongberang’i Ngarrga Inc proudly present the Techno Tanderrum – a contemporary celebration of Aboriginal culture and ceremony, fusing traditional elements with deep and driving percussive techno, all delivered through a deadly Funktion One sound system.

Set in an intimate and uniquely decorated secret warehouse location, the Techno Tanderrum will commence with a Smoking Ceremony to cleanse us and the space, followed by an Ochre Ceremony to connect you to Country and one another. Then our DJs will fire up the speaker stacks, with accompanying cultural performances throughout the night.

Native foods will be served during the evening, including crocodile, emu, kangaroo and vegetarian / vegan options. This will also be a BYO event, so feel free to bring and enjoy your favourite dancefloor refreshments!

Music will be provided by a range of local Melbourne-based artists, headlined by internationally-renowned heavyweight Sensient, who will be delivering a pumping techno set crafted of releases from his label, Zenon Records. Supporting acts include the Tongberang'i Ngarrga Inc founders Chunky (Luke Isaacs) and Brothers (Sam and Seth Nolan), Herc Kass and Quincy.

Alongside our musical artists, a live VJ will be taking you on a visual journey over the duration of the Techno Tanderrum.

As we are an Aboriginal community-controlled not-for-profit organisation, all proceeds from the event go directly to our Aboriginal youth and community related cultural programs.

Join us at this one of a kind event in celebration of NAIDOC Week, culture and community!

Tongberangi Ngargga Inc. acknowledges the Ancestors, Elders and families of the Kulin nations as the custodians of land on which this event is being held.

We acknowledge that this land is the place of age-old ceremonies of celebration, initiation and renewal. The Kulin people’s living culture had, and has, a unique role in the life of this region.
