Event description

Description

This one day workshop will explore the unconscious origins of the collective myths, cultural narratives and symbols which both help us to make sense of the world and orient our action in it. We look at how paying attention to dreams, fantasy, synchronicities and creative endeavours can enliven and illuminate how we represent and relate to complex and difficult situations, and respond creatively to them.

There will be short interactive presentations on the basic ideas of the collective unconscious, the role of symbols and myths in conceiving the inconceivable, and the significance of dreams in addressing collective responses to social and ecological threats and disturbances. We will then work in small groups with creative processes to stimulate discussions about the cultural narratives, dreams and fantasies that are present and emerging in our own responses to the challenges of the Anthropocene Transition.

Presenters: Jonathan Marshall, Susannah Benson and Sally Gillespie
