Working with Young People from Multicultural Backgrounds: National Youth Settlement Framework

The NYSF is Australia’s first evidence-based framework supporting good practice in youth settlement. A conceptual and practical resource, the NYSF is designed to enable services to respond more effectively to the needs of young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds and support their active participation in Australian society.

The NYSF sets out the eight good practice capabilities that should inform a youth-focussed approach in the provision of settlement services, including those funded under the Department of Social Services- Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) Program.

This is a valuable professional development and networking opportunity for workers from a variety of sectors including youth, settlement and government.

- Factors contributing to good settlement outcomes for young people

- Good practice in facilitating active citishenship and introduction to reflective practice

- Hear from young people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds
