This orientation meeting is designed for students who are new to the Bachelor of Arts (Music Industry) degree and are also new to RMIT in 2023. Find out about what you'll learn, chat with the staff, see our facilities, and make a new friend or two.
What's happening at this meeting?
- You will get to know the core Music Industry staff who will be teaching you. Come and say hi! We'll tell you about our interests, specialities and give you a run-down of the courses that lie ahead for you.
- You will hear some of the success stories of our graduates, and let you know what current students are doing, particularly concerning our involvement with the Victorian Music Industry. Get excited about what lies ahead for you!
- Together, students will undertake some 'getting to know you' activities, so that you can make new friends and can recognise a friendly face for when classes commence in Semester One.
- Staff will give you a tour of our Music Industry facilities: come see the DJ room, the Ableton production lab, our grand piano, and our other recording studios which you can book for your own use.
- At the end of the session, we will divide into small groups for a walk around campus. You'll get to see some essential locations such as where the Technical Services Office is (where you can borrow microphones, cameras, and other music-tech equipment), the library, and where to get the best coffee.

The meeting location is Building 5 Level 3 Room 3 (also called 5.3.3) which is where the Music Industry facilities are. The room is upstairs and is best accessed from Bowen Street. There will be signage pointing you in the right direction.
