Event description
Understanding cultural drivers and influences in the palliative approach to care. This in an interactive face to face workshop.

About this event

PEPA is funded by the Department of Health and is aimed at preparing Australia's health workforce to deliver quality, holistic, person-centred and culturally responsive care to people with a life-limiting illness.

PICAC is a government initiative that can help you to develop and enhance relationships with CALD aged care communities, identifying their unique needs.

Culture is at the core of everything we do and how we live. Having an understanding of different cultures underpins our ability to be responsive to the diverse needs of the people we engage with every day and the quality of the services we provide.

Aim of workshop:

You will learn how to increase client satisfaction by delivering culturally appropriate services, including strategies to improve health professionals’ knowledge, skills and confidence in the palliative approach to care for people with a life-limiting illness. The training will enable you to understand how to provide the best possible care and support for people with different cultural needs.”

Target Audience:

Allied health clinicians, registered nurses, enrolled nurses and AINs working with older people in the community and residential aged care services.

Topics Include:

  • Understand the palliative approach to care
  • Learn how culture influences expectations, decision-making and reactions to the palliative approach
  • Apply the palliative approach to a cultural briefing
