Event description

Description

Mt Druitt Youth Placemakers is a youth-led placemaking program that will run in the April school holidays. It's open to 13-17 year olds.

Together we will design and build experimental improvements to Dawson Mall. The aim is to test ideas, see the results and gather feedback from the community. We might build a chill space, or a stage, or a games area, or a mural to brighten things up, or a slippery dip. Who knows - it's up to you! The experiments will be temporary, lasting from days to months, depending on their durability and the community response. The experiments will help Blacktown City Council know what to do when they design a permanent upgrade of Dawson Mall next year.

It's a chance to:

  • meet new people
  • learn skills in design, placemaking, art and building
  • do something practical to get involved in your community
  • build up your teamwork, communication and leadership skills

The program will run from 10am-4pm on these days:

  • Monday 10/4
  • Wednesday 12/4
  • Wednesday 19/4
  • Thursday 20/4
  • Monday 24/4

Registrations: There are 30 places available, and you need to register for the program. Click the green 'register' button above.

Food: Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Transport: If you're not sure how to get there let us know, we might be able to help.

We are grateful to the NSW government for funding this initiative.
