Movement Choir for the Global Water Dance
Event Information
Description
Join us in creating a Global Water Dance in the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, a 4-part performance celebrating water, and advocating for safe water for everyone - which will be held at the , on June 15th at 3.00 pm.
This evening at Dance House is our first rehearsal for the Global Dance- the same dance that happens on the same day all around the world.
We will also discuss the plans for the GWD at the Royal Botanic Gardens, and welcome your input, involvement, creativity and moves!
We welcome you to join our movement choir to:
1. Co-create a site specific dance on the Southern Lawn by the Nymphaea Lily Lake, RBG Melbourne. Part of this involves creating a dance in which we become water, river, stream, ocean or puddle. We move together as one mind/body, as water.
2. Dance with us in the choreographed Global Dance, The same dance that happens all around the world, on the same day.
3. Encourage others to join us in a very simple- all ages all abilities, participatory dance (no rehearsals required).
4. Be part of a moving water ritual.
Participation in this event is free. Come along to our first night to reherse the Global Water Dance, and learn about how we are going to co- create this event. After that you can decide how much you want to be involved. There is an expectation that those who wish to be involved in the site specific dance and the Choreographed Global Dance will commit to several rehearsal dates. The participatory dance does not require any rehearsals and tickets for that will follow shortly.
We welcome your involvement in all parts of this program, including choreography, moving and dancing. Help us to create a beautiful participatory Global Water Dance at the RBG.
