Event description

Description

The Mornington Peninsula Writers Festival is an event for lovers of reading, writing and a good yarn.

The festival is a not-for-profit community-funded event coordinated by the Frankston Writers & Poets Society Inc. It draws together some of the most acclaimed writers and storytellers from the Peninsula and beyond. Join us as they share their stories of hope, worry, humour and the writer's life.

In 2018, the Festival will host the following speakers:

  • Andrew Rule, author of the Underbelly and Chopper series and Gold Walkley-winning Associate Editor for the Herald Sun;
  • Father Bob Maguire, Melbourne's most beloved larrikin holyman;
  • Tony Wilson, author of 2008 National Simultaneous Storytime book, Hickory Dickory Dash;
  • Nicky Johnston, children's author and illustrator;
  • Anson Cameron, acclaimed novelist and columnist for The Age;
  • Andrew Jobling, author of best-selling book, Eat Chocolate, Drink Alcohol and be Lean & Healthy;
  • Johanna Duyvestyn, spokeswoman from The Life You Can Save organisation;
  • Garry Disher, acclaimed crime writer, author of award winning novels, Chain of Evidence and Wyatt;
  • Lazaros Zigomanis, publishing blogger and author of Pride;
  • Paul Kennedy, author of Fifteen Young Men, and presenter for ABC News; and
  • Andrea McCall, the festival's Master of Ceremonies.
