Event description
Do you want to get better at managing your finances but just don’t know where to start?

About this Event

Does thinking about investing & superannuation cause anxiety induced gulps of wine? Are your credit cards or spending out of control?

You are not alone over 55% of women under 35 find dealing with money stressful and overwhelming whilst 85% of women don’t understand basic investing. On average women are retiring with half the super balance to men, but are living 4-7 years longer than men with 80% of women dying single whilst 80% of men die married. With the pay gap and women living longer than men it is becoming more and more important for women to take charge of their financial futures.

Girls Just Wanna Have Funds was born out of a meeting between two women with a mutual passion for finances and a desire to help women educate themselves and remove the fear and shame around personal finances. Our Money 101 workshop is our first (and hopefully not last) event. A non-judgemental place to ask those stupid questions and meet like-minded women.

Jennifer Noonan has been in the financial services industry for over 18 years and started as a financial adviser in 1999. After leaving advising for a period, she has been extensively involved in the development and facilitation of education for financial advisers, both for corporate organisations and at a tertiary level, including RMIT University, UNE and Monarch institute. Over the past few years Jennifer has run her own financial planning business with a passion for helping people along their journey and educating clients so that they can have peace of mind with their financial future.

Amy Junck is a wanna be financial adviser who has decided to take the leap and start studying a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning after 16 years working in finance within banking and retail companies. She has spent the past few years sorting out her finances and will tell anyone who will listen about how important an emergency fund is and that credit cards are literally the devil. Although she bought her first shares at 17 and investment property at 24 she is proof that you can know it all but sh*t can still go wrong.

100% of profits from the event will be donated to Launch Housing.

Launch Housing is a Melbourne based, secular and independent community agency formed in July 2015. Their mission is to end homelessness and provide housing, support, education and employment services to thousands of people in metropolitan Melbourne.

They are one of Victoria’s largest providers of housing and homelessness support services, providing flexible, specialist services that directly assist thousands of men, women, young people, children and families every year.

Jennifer regularly visits one of the Launch houses to talk to the women about budgeting, debt and money.
