Event description

***Make sure that you book your ticket, one per participant for this, so I know that I am not overbooking***

A free weekly Mindful Photography group is meeting on Mondays during school terms from 12:00-3PM, at a venue in Hackham, commencing on Monday the7th of May 2018.

  • Up to 8 cameras can be supplied, if you have your own, you're welcome too!

  • There is an 8 participant maximum and advanced bookings are necessary to secure your spot for the term ahead.

  • There is a $35 transport fee per participant for the entire 10 weeks of the term, to cover the costs of hiring a 10 seater bus for the group each week to be able to get around easily. This will need to be paid at or before the first session. It can be done by bank transfer if you would like to do it that way.

Are there minimum age requirements to participate?

If you are over 18, you are more than welcome to attend.

If you are under 18, you will need a completed parental permission form to attend.

What should I bring to the event?

If you have a digital camera, you are more than welcome to bring it along, and I mean a digital camera, not a mobile-phone! You need to be able to control the focal length (zoom), ISO (light sensitivity), aperture and shutter as a minimum with it. Having a variable wide-angle and telephoto lenses will be the ideal scenario.

I recommend bringing a bottle of water to drink and a broad rimmed hat for protection from the sun while we are out. Sensible walking shoes are recommended.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

You can contact Alex on 0413 549 088 or through with any queries.

What sort of places will you be visiting?

We will be visiting a range of destinations, from sandhills, the Onkaparinga Estuary, Hallet Cove Conservation Park, to various beaches and parks in the Onkaparinga region. This second term of 2018 is focusing on using and exploring various shutter speeds to capture movement in expressive ways. A lot of this will be based on a tripod, of which I can supply 8.

Are there going to be more special trips?

Of course! After the success and enjoyment of photographing the Parade of Light projections on the cultural precinct buildings as a part of the Adlaide 2018 Fringe Festival, more night lights and sunset sessions are planned. Details will be shared as we get closer to the dates.

What if the weather is too wet to go out?

If it is going to be too wet to get outside, we'll spend the afternoon doing tabletop photography, so bring along some interesting smallish items to photograph. I'll supply some lighting and a photography tent to play with! Thanks to some generous donations of portrait lights and large soft-boxes, we can also explore portraiture too!

What if I don't know how to use a digital camera?

I will show you how to use one in easy and simple ways. You'll be surprised by how fast you can actually gain creative control of one!
