This is an opportunity to participate in a one to one studio visit with Amelia Wallin, Andy Butler and Tamsen Hopkinson to discuss your work and practice.
Amelia Wallin, Director, West Space
Amelia Wallin holds a Bachelor of Art Theory and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of New South Wales, and a Master of Curatorial Studies from Bard College, New York. Amelia has held curatorial and administrative positions at Performa (New York), Campbelltown Arts Centre, Biennale of Sydney, Performance Space, Performing Lines and Vivid Ideas. She has played an active role in Australian arts development through directorial positions at Firstdraft, Tiny Stadiums Festival, and as co-founder of the residency and exhibition program Sydney Guild. Amelia has curated programs at The Kitchen, The Hessel Museum of Art, Performa15, and Firstdraft, and has contributed writing to Running Dog, Runway, un Magazine, Artlink, and others. She joined West Space as Director in 2019.
Tamsen Hopkinson, Curator - Programs, West Space
Tamsen Hopkinson, Ngāti Kahungunu ki te Wairoa, Ngāti Pahauwera is a Māori artist and curator from Aotearoa, based on Wurundjeri country. Her practice is an expression of mana wahine which is also informed by her Irish Pākehā ancestry. Tino Rangatiratanga underpins and grounds her curatorial and artistic practice. Tamsen brings extensive experience as a teacher, curator and producer to the position of Curatorial Liaison at West Space. Tamsen was a TCB Art Inc. board member between 2013 – 2019, is a current member of the UN Magazine Advisory Committee and has worked across multiple roles including programming for West Space, 2013-2017. She currently works as a Teaching Associate in the BFA (hons) program at Monash University of Art Design and Architecture (MADA).
Andy Butler, Curator - Exhibitions, West Space
Writer, curator and artist Andy Butler brings a deep commitment to the independent and ARI sector, extensive local and international networks, and hands-on experience curating and presenting commissions to the role of Program Curator at West Space. He sits on the board of the Emerging Writers Festival and SEVENTH Gallery, and is a co-director of Mailbox Art Space. Andy recently undertook an Asialink Creative Exchange to the Philippines and a Writers Immersion and Cultural Exchange to Indonesia. In 2017 he participated in Footscray Community Art Centre’s Emerging Cultural Leaders program.
