Description

Primary Prevention of Family Violence:From Toleration to Rejection

In the last decades of the 20th Century and early decades of the 21st Century,
globally and in national domains, responses to family violence have been
prioritised and improved. This panel of Australian and international experts
examines the changing nature of responses to family violence and women’s
security. They identify social, political and legal transitions from the tolerance of
violence against women to current social responses designed to ameliorate such
violence. The panellists argue that the final pressing transition is toward primary
prevention.
