Spend a day mixing it up with paint, collage and other media to create your own style. Go home with a finised work and a mind full of ideas
About this event
The joy of working in mixed media is all the unexpected effects you discover while experimenting with a variety of media and mark making.
Learn how to build up layers of colour and texture to create complex and interesting surfaces. Using paint, oil pastel, pencil, textiles & paper to collage, draw, scrape, stamp and stencil, you will let each layer guide you to the next and you’ll discover how to make those “what should I do next” decisions. Annie usually works in abstract, but the techniques can be utilised to paint any subject in new and exciting ways. You'll be shown tips & tricks and be advised & guided, but overall it will be a day of play & discovery and you'll leave with a mind brimming with ideas.
You can create totally free-form from your imagination or bring some favourite images to use for reference if you prefer.
Cost includes all art materials including a canvas for your completed masterpiece.
Light refreshments provided. BYO lunch
Wearing old clothes is recommended in case of splashes.
Covid guidelines will be followed on the day, so please carefully read the reminder email I will send a few days before the workshop
Historic Settlers Cottage is located at 180 Pearson Street, Churchlands, is owned by the National Trust and currently used as Art Studios. The setting is idyllic, nestled close to the Herdsman Lake, surrounded by trees and wildlife. The venue for our workshops is in the adjacent Shelter area (outdoor undercover with weather protection) and on the shady verandahs of the cottage. With Covid, this is the perfect way to enjoy art activities.
