By Mirndiyan Gununa (Mornington Island Arts and Culture Centre)

Overview

Mornington Island's Cultural Awareness Induction Program was developed in 2007 as an interactive information session for all Visitors.

The Mornington Island Cultural Awareness Induction Program was developed in 2007 as an interactive information session for visitors to Mornington Island.

The Mornington Island Shire Council subsequently endorsed Mirndiyan Gununa (Mornington Island Arts and Culture Centre) to deliver the program to all visitors working on, or providing services to, Mornington Island.

This engaging and interactive Induction Program is a fantastic opportunity for visitors to better understand matters on Mornington Island including cultural protocols, current services delivered on-island as well as other general information of interest.

Participants may secure an advance place on this Induction Program by making a booking and payment.

Monthly sessions are typically scheduled for the third Thursday of each month to allow organisations/visitors to book well in advance and participant numbers are typically capped at 15 per session. If however you have requirements outside of these standard times and participant numbers, feel free to forward an enquiry with details of your specific requirements as Mirndiyan may be able to facilitate extra sessions where there are sufficient participant numbers and/or exceptional circumstances.

If you have any enquiries or special requirements please email your queries to John Armstrong, General Manager, on miart@morningtonisland.com.au.
