Event description
Your opportunity to ask questions on the draft mining regulations as it pertains to compliance and enforcement.

About this Event

In 2016 the Department for Energy and Mining (DEM) led a major review of South Australia's mining laws. The Department is now finalising mining regulations that sit beneath the revised Mining Act which will commence in January 2021.

The regulations will introduce modern environmental enforcement powers to ensure that operations and rehabilitation occur in line with approvals, whilst simplifying the process for those involved in exploration and mining operations.

As part of the draft mining regulations consultation during August until 11 September 2020, DEM will be hosting three webinars that interested stakeholders can register and attend.

These webinars are intended to provide background and information on the draft regulations for people and interested stakeholders to then provide input via submission forms.

Given the number of people in this webinar, microphones will be muted from the floor and questions can be given via a chat box. Topics not relating to the draft regulations will not be discussed in this forum.

This webinar will focus on Package Two: Focusing on compliance and enforcement: topics on compliance and enforcement, Wardens Court, Mining Register, opal mining, royalties and finance, and Mine Manager’s competency

If you would like to register for other topics you can do so here

4 August 2020

Package One: Focusing on land access: topics on access to land, exploration licences, and mineral claims.

18 August 2020

Package Three: Focusing on operating approvals: topics on private mines, and a consolidated mining approvals approach made up of topics on common provisions, production tenements, and operating approvals.

The webinars are one of the ways interested stakeholders can find out more about the draft mining regulations. For further information on the draft mining regulations and ways to find out more, please go to the mining regulations website.

Please note that registrations for this event will close at 2 pm on Monday 10 August 2020.
