Event description

Description

Bushwalking NSW, with the help of a grant from the Environment Trust, is now offering FREE training courses for those who love nature and want to continue to enjoy it at its best. Minimal Impact Bushwalking helps to preserve nature and biosecurity in our pristine Australian habitats.

This one-day training course will help you to 'walk softly' and leave a minimal impact as well as know the best safety preparations to make before you head out.

Join Greg for his Buxton Plateau walk to scenic Little River and a lunch stop at Dobsons Cave, a large rock overhang with interesting rock formations and once home to a lonely hermit.

  • Starting at 9am at the locked gate at the end of Buxton Avenue, Buxton and following the Hermits Track through a bloodwood forest with three normally dry creek crossings we will learn about Minimal Impact Bushwalking tips and tricks as we walk along the track.

  • This will be a slow, leisurely experience getting in touch with Mother Nature.

  • Approximately 4km return walk through a wilderness forest along the southern slopes of Buxton Plateau with short steep sections.

  • This walk is Family Friendly! People under 18 years of age are welcome if accompanied by their parent or guardian.

  • Note: there are unfenced cliff lines adjacent to the track in some sections.

  • Note: this is a beginners introduction to Minimal Impact Bushwalking
