Event description
GERRIC at UNSW's School of Education is a leading centre for professional educators looking to help gifted students flourish.

About this event

The two-day Mini-Certificate of Gifted Education (Mini-COGE) provides useful and practical Professional Development to educators in supporting gifted and high potential students. Gifted and high potential students are not necessarily high achievers; we focus on how to engage and support these students to reach their high potential.

The Mini-COGE will help you to:

  • Identify gifted, high potential and talented students
  • Differentiate the curriculum for high potential students
  • Implement ability grouping or acceleration
  • Understand gifted education research and best practices
  • Develop an existing (or create a new) unit of work to best suit the needs of the differentiated classroom and gifted students

The unit of work allows you to implement practical changes to curriculum, assessment and pedagogy, receive feedback from other educators and the GERRIC academic presenter, and provide ongoing impact to you and your students.

Please note that attendance for all hours is mandatory, so please plan your travel and commitments accordingly.

The Mini-COGE is designed for teachers and administrators currently working in schools. If you have another role, please email us at education.events@unsw.edu.au to enquire before registering.

2021 events

This event is currently planned to be face to face with social distancing and Covid-safe measures in place. If we are unable to proceed with face to face delivery we will deliver the course online on the same dates and times.

We have been running our Mini-COGE Online Course since April with great success and have been working hard to make sure this format has the same highly-researched content, delivered in a way that works best for online learning.

We appreciate your cooperation and time completing this information.
