Minecraft Modding With Java
Event Information
About this Event
Students will learn to setup a development environment that can be used to develop mods for Minecraft using Java. Students will be exposed to mods that can be run on the Minecraft client (i.e. via Forge). This allows students to create custom blocks and other in game items.
Students then move onto mod development with server side mods that run in the Minecraft server 'Spigot'. This is how large online communities such as Hypixel operate.
Due to time constraints, students will be developing introductory mods that can execute commands and change world properties. Mods that are found in online games and commercially available take hundreds of hours to develop. While we encourage students to learn the skills to one day be able to do this, we are aiming to fill in the gaps on how to get started.
Week 1 (11th March) - Installation and Setup of Spigot / Forge and Intelli-J. Overview of how the software works.
Week 2 (March 18th) - Mod development with Forge
Week 3 (March 25th) - Forge development / Spigot Server development
Week 4 (April 1st) - Spigot plugin
