Description

As meditation has become more well-known in the West, scientists have begun to quantify its physical benefits in hundreds of studies.

Significant benefits have been found for many health conditions, including heart disease, cholesterol, high blood pressure, insomnia, chronic pain, cancer, immunity and stress. It is also know to be as effective as antidepressants in treating depression and anxiety.

This is an introductory meditation course to give insight to what is meditation and the benefits as you experience different techniques.

In addition we will also be focusing on mindfulness and how to bring this into your daily life.

This course provides an opportunity to begin to create a regular practise and enjoy the benefits of meditation and mindfulness.

We will also be focusing on a specific type of meditation – the Loving Kindness meditation. Loving-Kindness meditation focuses on developing feelings of goodwill, kindness and warmth towards yourself and others (Salzberg, 1997).

Research shows that Loving Kindness Meditation has a tremendous amount of benefits ranging from increasing well-being, to giving relief from illness and improving emotional intelligence and enhancing relationship with yourself and others.

This is a weekly course for 4 weeks on Tuesday evenings 6.00pm-7.30pm.

The course includes weekly tips and resources and a Balance and Tranquility Meditation CD
