Event description

Please join me for this online LIVE event. This event is not pre-recorded.

Mindfulness practice offers an effective path to develop healthy responses to a chaotic world. However, many students with disabilities have difficulty with their interoceptive system which negatively impacts on their ability to benefit from traditional mindfulness practice. Interoception is the ability to sense and interpret information from our internal condition. This workshop introduces specific strategies to support mindulness activities and provide awareness of the body and emotions in order to improve self regulation and reduce anxiety. Each participant will gain an understanding of the challenges faced by children/ students with diverse needs and will develop a plan to implement mindfulness activities in their learning context.

This workshop is suitable for special education, early childhood, junior primary, primary and secondary educators.

At the end of the workshop participants will:

Understand the challenges faced by children/ students with diverse needs in regards to self regulation, self awareness and interoception (that is the ability to understand internal signals from our body).

Be introduced to strategies and programs appropriate for children/ students with diverse needs and cognitive delays that support the teaching of mindfulness.

Develop a plan to implement mindfulness activities in their learning context.
