About this event

Tried our 'Free PD - Mindfulness in the Classroom' and want to learn more and make a bigger impact? Our comprehensive mindfulness professional development workshop 'Mindful Primary Teacher' helps you become a truly mindful educator.

This PD runs over 3 Wednesday evenings (2 hrs each evening). Please check the start time for your state below:

QLD - 6:30pm EDT

WA - 4:30pm WST

SA - 7pm CDT

NT - 6pm CST

Our 'Mindful Primary Teacher' professional development workshop (via Zoom) is a comprehensive and interactive PD to help teachers and educators deeply integrate mindfulness into their classroom. It's suitable for those teachers and educators who work with Foundation (P/K/PP/R/T) to Year 6 students.

This evidence-based, non-religious, online mindfulness training is suitable for both newcomers to mindfulness/meditation, and the more experienced. The only requirement is an open mind!

This online workshop (via Zoom) is presented by Michael Batskos; Perth primary school teacher, certified mindfulness facilitator, yoga teacher and founder of Mindful Primary Schools.

Workshop attendees receive:

- 20+ digital, printable mindfulness lesson plans for Foundation (P/K/PP/R/T) to Year 6

- an e-workbook / mindfulness journal

- bonus digital resources, such as printable posters for your classroom

- a certificate (via email) on successful completion of the workshop and the mindfulness journal (essentially a brief record of your own mindfulness practice following the workshop, to be completed within 4-8 weeks, as mindfulness is largely experiential). You'll become a certified 'Mindful Primary Teacher'.

You will:

- learn how to effectively teach mindfulness lessons to primary school students

- gain insight into what the latest research says about mindfulness in primary schools

- develop a bank of mindfulness lessons that are linked to the Australian Curriculum, are engaging, able to be taught inside or outside, take 10-15 minutes and require minimal planning/resources

- receive training in implementing mindfulness in your classroom, including managing disruptive behaviour

- practise a range of mindfulness activities, including meditations and mindful movement

- engage in some self-care by beginning to develop your own personal mindfulness practice. This will help enhance your own wellbeing, reduce stress and enable you to become an authentic and effective school mindfulness teacher

It's suitable for:

- primary school and early childhood teachers

- relief teachers

- education assistants

- deputy/associate principals and principals of primary schools

- educators
