Course summary

The iAIM Activity Permissive Classrooms course is designed for Primary and Secondary School teachers in state and non-state sectors. The course will tap into participants’ prior knowledge and provide them with evidence, strategies and resources to confidently use physical activity as an effective pedagogical strategy and create a positive and engaging classroom environment.

Participants will learn about the link between neuroscience and physical activity and through active participation will learn how to design active lesson warm-ups, active curriculum concepts, and active brain breaks. Participants will also learn about contemporary approaches to making classrooms more activity permissive through space, equipment and furniture.


Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of attendance (2.5hrs) issued by the iAIM Team which will detail alignment with AITSL teacher standards.

5.00pm – 5.30pm: Active Curriculum

  • Approaches to, and examples of integrating physical activity within curriculum
  • Daily Physical Activity APP
  • Good practice examples including integration of DPA e.g. Spelling Games, Active


  • Planning to deliver an active curriculum concept tomorrow

5.30pm - 6.00pm: Active Brain Breaks

  • Approaches to, and examples of active brain breaks
  • iAIM edStudio, GoNoodle, YouTube, Just Dance, iAIM 10-week challenge
  • Planning to deliver an active brain break tomorrow

6.00pm-6.15pm: Active Classroom Spaces, Equipment and Furniture

  • Examples and good practice emerging

6.15pm – 6.30pm: Conclusion and Moving Forward

  • Action Plan: What can/will you try/share tomorrow and into the future?
