Victoria is no stranger to emergencies and disasters. From bushfire to flood to major accidents, almost every region in Victoria has experienced emergency events that have impacted its people, families and communities.

Since 2009 there has been a range of changes introduced to the way Victoria prepares, responds and recovers from emergencies. To help understand if these changes are bringing better outcomes for all Victorians, the Inspector-General of Emergency Management (IGEM) is undertaking a major review of the reform of Victoria’s emergency management arrangements over the past 10 years.

Communities in the Mildura, Swan Hill, Yarriambiack, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera and other surrounding local government areas have been subject to a range of significant bushfires, floods and other events in recent years. VCOSS will be providing a submission to the review and this consultation forum will provide community and social service organisations the opportunity to tell us about the experiences of emergency events that have impacted their clients and communities.

Please note these consultations are for community sector organisations only. MAV will be consulting with local councils on IGEM’s 10 year review - contact MAV for more information.
