Event description

Description

How can we create a framework for promoting the well-being of 8-12 year old children in policy and practice?

This question was raised repeatedly at Families ACT's Middle Years Forum in February 2017, which focused on the emotional, physical and psychological development of children aged 8-12.

Join us for Part II in our Middle Years Forum series, which will focus specifically on how we can take what is known about the needs of Middle Years children, and incorporate it into policy and programs that support and promote the well-being of 8-12 year olds.

Speakers:

Associate Professor Sharon Bessell, Crawford School of Public Policy - Children and Communities: how do children conceptualise community, and express what they need from their community.

Dr Sue Packer OAM, Community Paediatrician - What does well-being look like in the middle years? As social life becomes more important, children need space away from parents to grow

Alasdair Roy OAM, Consultant Psychologist - Child Safe/Child Friendly practices from a Nordic perspective: what we can learn about children's rights from Iceland, Sweden and Norway.

Dr Tim Moore, Institute of Child Protection Studies - Young carers: supporting the wellbeing of middle years children who care for family members

Early bird discounts are available for those who book before 20 October.
