Event description
It’s hard to solve a problem you can’t see!

About this Event

Join AUSMAP Program Director, Dr Michelle Blewitt to hear about their mission to map microplastics across Australia and find out how you can be involved.

Followed by the first hand experience from the Year 10 students at Portside Christian College who have been looking at marine debris in West Lakes and have found large quantities of microplastics including polystyrene and resin pellets.

This event is hosted by the Port Environment Centre, a community driven organisation and 'gathering place' that supports the community in living sustainably, valuing, caring for, learning about and enjoying the experience of the natural coastal, marine and estuarine environment.

More about AUSMAP - By translating data into vivid maps of plastic pollution hotspots all over Australia, the Australian Microplastic Assessment Project makes it easy for everyone to see the scale and nature of this growing problem.

We need to know how much is already out there, before we figure out what to do with it. And we need large numbers of Australians to engage with behaviour change so we can stop any more plastic disintegrating into our waterways.

That’s why AUSMAP is a collaborative citizen science project.
