Event description

Description

“Few human experiences have been more pondered over, more discussed and more longed for than love,” writes Bhante Dhammika in his book titled, “Like Milk and Water Mixed”. The book then goes on to explore the different types of love, from the mundane to the spiritual, from a narrow love to one described by the Buddha as more refined and expansive.

In this talk, Bhante Dhammika will talk about how to practice with unconditional love (Metta), exploring the challenges one may face and how to overcome those challenges so as to realise this boundless love with a kind heart and clear mind.

A copy of Bhante Dhammika’s book is available at the Metta Centre or you can access the chapters online here: https://www.bhantedhammika.net/like-milk-and-water-mixed

Bhante Dhammika was born in Australia in 1951 and became a monk in India in 1976. Since then he has lived mainly in Sri Lanka and Singapore and returned to his homeland to live in 2017. Bhante studied at Kelaniya University’s Post-graduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies and was one of the co-founders of the Nilambe Meditation Centre in Sri Lanka. In 2000 he represented Theravada at the European Buddhist Union’s Millennium Conference in Berlin. Bhante is a well-known speaker and has written some 20 books and numerous articles on various aspects of Buddhism. His book Good Question Good Answer has been translated into more than 30 languages and has come to be considered a minor classic of Buddhist literature.
