About Woodside

Woodside is the pioneer of the LNG industry in Australia and the largest Australian natural gas producer. It has a global portfolio and is recognised for its world-class capabilities as an integrated upstream supplier of energy. Building on more than 30 years of operations in Western Australia, Woodside is progressing development of the Scarborough and Browse gas resources through its producing assets, the Woodside-operated Pluto LNG and North West Shelf (NWS) Project. Woodside is proposing a brownfield expansion of Pluto LNG through the construction of a second gas processing train. Pluto Train 2 would have a capacity of about 5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) (100% Project). The composition of gas from the offshore Scarborough field is well suited to Pluto LNG, which is designed for lean gas and nitrogen removal. Woodside entered front-end engineering and design for Pluto Train 2 in December 2018. A final investment decision (FID) is targeted for 2020 with start-up in 2024.

Robert MacKinnon is a Chartered Chemical Engineer, who joined Woodside in 2005 and is currently the Project Manager for Woodside’s Pluto Train 2 development. Robert has spent more than 28 years in the oil and gas Industry, with 20 years working on major brownfield and greenfield LNG projects. He worked for a major contractor prior to joining Woodside. He was responsible for the process design of LNG train 4 and 5 on the Karratha Gas Plant (KGP) and then worked as the Commissioning Manager on Pluto Train 1 and Wheatstone LNG.

About Alinta Energy

Alinta Energy supplies natural gas and electricity to over 1 million homes and businesses throughout Australia. Its power generation and energy infrastructure portfolio includes a number of power stations, transmission lines and natural gas pipelines in Australia and a power station in New Zealand. The combined installed capacity of the power stations represents approximately 2000MW of base load, intermediate and peaking power generation. Alinta’s capacity is being bolstered by the Yandin Wind Farm and the Newman Battery Project. The Yandin project will be a 214 MW wind farm 150km north of Perth, featuring 51 industry-leading wind turbines with 180m tip heights. At a cost of approximately $400m, it will be Western Australia’s biggest wind farm. Construction is expected to commence in August, with first generation July 2020. Following construction, Vestas will operate and maintain the wind farm under a long-term service agreement. The wind farm will connect to Western Power’s 330 kV electricity network via a new 10 km transmission line and terminal station that will be built, owned and operated by Western Power. The Newman Battery Project provided a 35MW/11MWh battery to complement the existing 178MW gas fired power station.

Gary Bryant is an energy professional with more than 25 years of experience in the power generation industry. He has held roles in research and development, operations, engineering and technical services management and asset management and performance. Gary joined Alinta in 2000 and currently serves as the of General Manager of Asset Strategy, where he has been responsible for the development and delivery of over $650 million of major construction projects for Alinta. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer, is registered on the National Engineering Register and is a Fellow of the Australian Institution of Engineers.
