About the Carrapateena Project

OZ Minerals’ Carrapateena project is one of Australia’s largest undeveloped copper deposits. Carrapateena is on schedule for first concentrate production in November with over 100kt of development ore stockpiled. OZ Minerals is currently gathering EOIs from supply chain companies able to deliver products and services when the mine is operational.

OZ Minerals’ Chief Commercial Officer Mark Irwin is accountable for OZ Minerals growth activity, including delivery of the Carrapateena copper-gold project, the West Musgrave copper-nickel project, project studies and our exploration and acquisitive growth pipeline. He has lived and worked in the United States, Australia and the UK and has over 20 years of experience in complex global organisations including BHP, Graincorp and Transfield Services. Before joining OZ Minerals, Mark was most recently with international mining services company, Boart Longyear, where he held the role of Chief Commercial Officer based in the United States.

About the Solar River Project

The $480m Solar River Project is being built in two stages. Stage 1 includes a broad-acre solar photo-voltaic PV array with single axis tracking and Large Battery. The development includes a 200 MW PV array and 100 MW Battery generating enough power for 96,000 homes. The array is 3200 x 1800 metres with a transmission line connection to the national grid near Robertstown South Australia. Construction is due to start this year. Solar River Project Stage 2 is an additional 200MW with large Battery with construction due to commence in Q4 2020. The project aims to integrate broad-acre PV, heritage, environment, native flora, fauna and pastoral farming practices.

Managing Director Jason May has 34 years energy sector experience and is a seasoned energy infrastructure developer. He is a founder of several companies and mentor at the University of Adelaide’s entrepreneur hub Thinclab. Jason has a Master of Project Management from the George Washington University and has worked in a variety of industries from power generation, to telecommunications and gas transmission and distribution.

As NERA focuses specifically on the energy resources sector, Gavin works collaboratively with industry, research professionals and supply chain SME’s to increase the national and global competitiveness of Australian businesses.

Prior to joining NERA, Gavin has worked as Specialist Minerals and Energy within the Department for Trade, Tourism and Investment. Gavin holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Adelaide and has broad operational experience gained within manufacturing and mining production and technical management positions within South Australian industry.
