Mernda Community Garden
Sat. 4 March 2017, 10:30 am – 11:30 am AEDT
The Mernda Community Garden at Carome was established in 2007 and is located within the culturally significant and heritage listed Carome Homestead. Set in paddocks and perched above the Plenty River, the garden provides open space and views that recall the area’s rural past.
The garden consists of 30 member plots, 10 communal plots and an orchard of 40 fruit trees. Our members are all residents of the City of Whittlesea and enjoy coming together with like-minded people to learn, grow and socialise in a safe and welcoming environment.
We cultivate in an organic manner and employ many permaculture practices to ensure that we garden as mindfully as possible whilst still maintaining high yielding plots. We enforce a strict “no spray” policy to ensure that we act in an eco-friendly and sustainable fashion."
The timing of the produce swaps is 10.30am-12.00pm
