Meredith Woolnough: Sculptural Embroidery and Resin Embedding
Wed., 23/11/2016, 9:30 am – Thu., 24/11/2016, 4:30 pm AWST
Machinery Embroidery at it’s best!
Meredith is an internationally acclaimed, award winning artist from Newcastle, Australia. In this 2 day workshop we will create a range of embroidered sculptures. The sewing machine will be transformed into an unconventional drawing tool and you will be in control of every stitch allowing your creativity and imagination to run wild. By stitching onto a combination of woven and water-soluble fabrics we will create a range of experimental embroidered artworks.
The resin embedding and casting processes will also be explored in this workshop and small objects will be embedded into resin blocks creating freestanding sculptures or small jewelry pieces.
Suited to all levels. No experience is necessary but basic sewing machine operation skills will be helpful and a serviced machine essential.
